James 3:2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
A man who tries, is perfect in the way. This is an oxymoronic statement. If a man has to try then he is not perfect. There was only One, who was perfect. His name was Jesus. We can try to be better, but perfect? Not going to happen. There will be a day when we receive our new perfect body. We will be perfect then, but today we struggle. Today we need grace!
We struggle and stumble in many ways as humans. The first place we can start is with our words. Have you ever caught yourself mumbling bad things in traffic? This catches us off guard. We were having such a good day until that person cut us off. This is our Achilles heel. We try but the folly of this world entraps us. What do we do?
Realization. We need to realize that we will struggle with sin until we meet Jesus face to face. We will say bad things, do bad things and think bad things. We need daily grace and mercy. We need to understand that there is a God sized hole in our hearts for a reason. We need to ask Him to fill that hole daily. Seek, ask and knock. This is our mission for today and everyday, thereafter.
